The Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area, M. Wamkele Mene with a delegation is visiting Gabon this week. As part of this official encounter, the delegation visited Gabon Special Economic Zone located in Nkok on May 12.
The Secretary General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), M. Wamkele Méné, together with the Gabonese Minister of Investment Promotion, Mrs. Carmen Ndaot, visited Gabon’s first privileged economic zone, hosting around 100 major operators in various fields.
This tour is part of the popularisation of this inter African market which covers more than 1.3 billion consumers. The aim of this visit was to exchange with the companies operating in the zone desiring to market their products in the free trade area.

The Secretary General of the AfCFTA assured the economic operators that preliminary exchanges are underway with the different States to guarantee the best products’ access to the integrated market.
Mrs Anne Nkene Biyo’o, General Administrator of the Administrative Authority of the Zone ushered the visitors to three different companies, Gabon Wood Industry, Santé Pharmaceutique, the Gabonese steel factories and lastly the furniture exhibition centre.
It is worth recalling that M. Wamkele Mene met with the Gabonese Prime Minister Mrs Rose Christiane Ossouka Raponda and the Minister of Economy Mrs. Nicole Jeanine Lydie ROBOTY épse. MBOU.
The AfCFTA commenced trade activities on January, 1, 2021. This single market for goods, services, facilitated by movement of persons, aims to deepen the economic integration of the African continent.
